25 ZSF sponsored nursing students graduate!
Speaking on behalf of others shortly after their historic graduation ceremony, duo of Lameck
Sizande and Thelma Kalesu, said that their life story is incomplete without the mention of
Zambia’s Scholarship Fund.
“As graduates have promising job opportunities in both the public and private health sectors, we
shall therefore directly contribute to a stronger health workforce in our communities and nation
at large”, said Mr. Sizande.
And Ms. Kalesu added that they would not have graduated as nurses without the support of
ZSF and its donors from the USA, saying they are from poor families that could not afford to
send them to college.
“Today we are certified Nurses, Midwives and Public Health Nurses courtesy of ZSF, this
organisation paid our tuition fees for three years. We thank it so much and appeal to its funders
in the USA not to relent, but continue to touch countless lives of poor Zambians”, said a jovial
Ms. Kalesu while waving her just obtained Diploma.
Since its founding in 1999 by Peggy Rodgers, a USA national, after she visited Zambia and
witnessed challenges that children from poor families in the Northern Province face in accessing
education, Zambia’s Scholarship Fund has sponsored and continues to sponsor thousands of
vulnerable but viable children at secondary and tertiary level many of whom are now in
employment and contribute to the well-being of their families, communities and country at large
in many spheres of life.
In the pictures below, some of the 25 graduates are captured posing for group photos that also
feature two ZSF officials – Tobias Mangani & Ivy Kapole who attended the graduation to offer
moral support!
