ZSF donates school infrastructure worth slightly over K1M in Kasama District.

Zambia’s Scholarship Fund, or ZSF, has donated and handed over two fully furnished blocks of classrooms (Molwani and Mponda  both 1×3) costing K1,040,000 to the Government of the Republic of Zambia.

Speaking on Friday 5th April, 2024 during the handover ceremony held at Molwani Primary School, ZSF-Zambia chapter chairperson, Ivy Kapole, said the two classroom blocks, all one-by-three, at Mponda Primary School as well as Molwani and each worth K520,000 will ease local children’s access to education.

Ms. Kapole told the excited gathering that to ease some of the challenges facing the two schools, ZSF thought of constructing and furnishing the facilities so as to create a conducive space for learning to children in Molwani and Mponda area.

She stressed that ZSF expects more pupils, especially those from Molwani who were initially attending class in a dilapidated chicken run, to have interest in education owing to the improved learning environment.

And receiving the facilities, Kasama Mayor Theresa Kolala, said the gesture is highly appreciated and implored teachers in the district to amplify ZSF efforts by being at their stations on time and teaching for the stipulated hours so that learners can attain quality education.

Meanwhile, Northern Province Senior Education Standards Officer, James Kasisi, notes that ZSF’s donation will help address the shortage of classroom space, especially in the wake of the re-introduction of free education policy, which has seen an influx of children that had dropped-out due to lack of tuition fees, return to school.

And the locals speaking through their Lukashya Constituency Member of Parliament, George Chisanga, thanked ZSF for the timely gift.

ZSF’s building and donating over 34 fully furnished classrooms has continued to bring smiles and ignite hope for a better future to many citizens and marginalized communities in the Northern Province of Zambia where it has operated since 1999.
