Most pressing need: Drastic Drought hits Zambia!!
Help us provide wells for our schools and communities
For 25 years ZSF has faced many challenges . . .
Now Mother Nature sends her worst!
2024 has been a record drought in Zambia.
As with most places in the world, it is the people who have no money that it can devastate the most. People living and working in the city pull their finances together and figure a way to fix the problem.
But in Zambia most people still live off of the land they do not have resources’ to pull together they rely on the rains and furrows to carry their water to their homes and schools. It is estimated that 60% of Zambians live in rural areas or (the bush) they do not have any other source of water but the little muddy furrow that has always run within walking distance from their homes.
Today those furrows are dried up. Many are finding it difficult to impossible to find water. School children at these rural schools also relied on furrows now many cannot walk far enough to find water so they much close down the school.
Help ZSF bring water to theses schools.
The schools are located in the heart of the community so if we drill a well and provide a hand pump the whole community can walk to the school and get the water they need. In other words you will be helping a whole community not just a school.
Currently the drilling of wells (including the solid iron hand pump) will cost between $2,500 to $3,000 depending on how far in the bush the trucks will have to travel.
