Katampa Community in Zambia Excited Over School, Desk Donation by ZSF.

Scores of inhabitants in a remote Zambian community of  Katampa and surrounding six villages in the Kasama District of Northern Province, about 880 Kilometers north of the country’s capital, Lusaka, were on Monday 6th February, 2023 full of joy over the building and donation of a one-by-two classroom block by Zambia’s Scholarship Fund, or ZSF.

Expressing happiness at the commissioning of the facility, which includes a headteacher’s office and strong room, the locals speaking through one of the village headmen – Mulenga Katampa, said the donation is highly appreciated as their 306 school children will now learn in a conducive environment thanks to ZSF.

The residents added that they are now optimistic that the new and fully furnished school facility will motivate both the pupils and teachers to work hard unlike the old one which is a small, poorly ventilated and unplastered structure that learners and teachers were subjected to.

“…Our school going children and teachers were subjected to a small, poorly ventilated and unplastered structure, a situation which somehow contributed to poor academic performance”  a cheerful headman Katampa said.

And the Zambian government through its Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Bernard Mpundu, who received and commissioned the facility, hailed ZSF for the gift, noting that it will go a long way in actualizing the government’s agenda of creating a successful country through education.

ZSF has constructed and handed over twenty five fully furnished classrooms to the government in the Northern Province.
