The Inspiring Journey of Peter Chankondo A ZSF Teacher

Meet Peter Chankondo, a dedicated teacher at mutema primary school in Mungwi district whose life transformed thanks to the Zambia Scholarship Fund (ZSF). Peter joined ZSF in June 2014, stepping into a role that would change not only his future but also the futures of many around him.
Before becoming a part of ZSF, Peter faced immense challenges. With five children to care for and parents relying on him, life was a daily struggle. He often found it difficult to provide even two meals a day for his family. The weight of responsibility pressed heavily on his shoulders, leaving him feeling hopeless and overwhelmed.
However, everything began to change when Peter joined the Zambia Scholarship Fund. With a stable income as a teacher sponsored by ZSF, he was finally able to save a little money from his salary and do farming. He used these savings wisely, investing in the education of his two siblings. One sibling pursued a career in teaching, following in Peter’s footsteps, while the other is currently in his third year of studying accounting.
Peter’s commitment to education didn’t end there. With the support of ZSF, he enrolled in a diploma program at Kasama College of Education, further enhancing his skills and knowledge. This opportunity not only benefited Peter but also had a ripple effect on his family and community.
With his newfound stability, Peter began to help his parents to put food on the table, alleviating the burden they had carried for so long. He is now able to provide for his own children, ensuring they have the opportunities he once dreamed of for them.
“Thank you so much, Zambia Scholarship Fund, for your support. Without you, I wouldn’t have been who I am today,” Peter expresses with heartfelt gratitude.
Peter Chankondo’s story is one of resilience and hope, illustrating how the right support can empower individuals to uplift their families and communities. Today, he stands not only as a teacher but as a beacon of inspiration for others, proving that change is possible with dedication and support.
